Slides

Slides

Slides are a crucial part of a Live Conference Voting event and are only available for these elections. You may employ presentation and/or ballot slides, each with their own functionalities. Presentation slides are used for welcomes, explanations, showing images, and so forth. Ballot slides are used for voting purposes. Refer to the guide Create, edit, and delete slides to learn more about how to create, edit, and delete slides.

To create a slide, start by clicking on the “+ Create presentation slide.”

When creating a presentation slide, you can customize the title, layout, and background of the slide. Additionally, if enabled, you may also choose to add images and/or text descriptions.

  • Title: The title of the slide which will be displayed to the voters.

  • Description: Here, write any relevant text or information you wish to show voters.

*By default, a presentation slide will be created with the “Title and description” layout. You can change this via the “Layout” feature shown below.

  • Layout: Here, you may decide the format of your slide. There are three options available: “Title and description,” “Single image,” and “Title and image.” The layout you select will affect the fields you will need to configure, with examples of each layout provided below.

Title and description:

Title and image:

With the “Single image” and “Title and image” layouts, an extra field is available where you are able to choose and upload images. You may upload any .png or .jpeg file.

  • Advanced settings

    • Internal name: A name for the slide which is only visible to backend users.

    • Slide background: This allows you to choose the background for your slide. You may choose from the default slide chosen in the election configuration, a background image from the gallery provided, or an image you have uploaded. Alternatively, you can also choose to not have any background image.

Ballot slides are those in which your voters will be able to cast their votes.

  • Title: The title of the slide which will be displayed to the voters.

  • Description: Write any relevant text or information you wish for voters to see (descriptions, explanations, instructions, etc.)

  • Identifiable: When this item is disabled, voters and their votes are anonymous. When enabled, a system user is able to see who voted on which ballot in the output file.

  • Recasting: This feature, if enabled, allows the voters to vote as many times as they wish, with only the last vote submitted being the one that counts. This rule applies for as long as the ballot is open.

  • Contests - Here, you select which contest(s) should be available for voting on a particular slide. You can choose from either the list of contests displayed under “Available” or search for a specific contest in the search bar.

  • Advanced settings

    • Internal name: The name of the slide only visible to backend users.

    • Slide background: This allows you to choose the background for your slide. You may choose from the default slide chosen in the election configuration, a background image from the gallery provided, or an image you have uploaded. You may also choose to not have any background image.

    • Hand raise (this is a feature flag): This feature transforms the vote into a “hand raise” vote, one which is taken by counting the “raised” hands of voters. This means that there is an instant public result as votes are submitted and you - as a user, an observer, or voter - can see who voted for what on the frontend.

*When this item is toggled on, it will enable you to choose the Observer layout. Here, you can decide what the observer screen should show for the voters. Choose between:

All voters visible (at the same time)”: All voters will be visible at the same time and everyone can see who voted for what. The voters will be organized by name in alphabetical order.

Voters organised on options (votes)”: Options are prioritized on the display. They will be visible on the screen and the voters will be shown next to the option for which they voted. All voters will not be visible at the same time. Instead, the voters who voted for that option most recently will become visible and then disappear as new votes come in. This will occur by way of animation.

Note that, when you enable the Hand raise feature on a ballot slide, it is only possible to select one contest on that slide.

  • Result presentation:  Here, you can decide the manner in which you wish to present results. You can choose to have a vertical bar chart, a horizontal bar chart, or no chart at all. Should you choose “No chart,” the result will be displayed in a table.

Once you are done creating the slides, you can preview them by simply clicking on the slide you want to see.

Additionally, by clicking on the green “Open ballot” button, you can see a preview of how the ballot will appear to the voters. If you have several contests in a slide, you can also interact with the ballot to review them all.
