Voter Segments
This guide provides an overview of voter segments. Voter segments allow for extra information regarding the voters to be added to the system. Segmenting voters allows for targeted communication and more detailed result analysis.
Note that voter segments are a feature flag; therefore, it needs to be enabled at the organisation level.

How to set up voter segments
To start setting up segments, go to “Configurations” and you will find segments under the “Statistics” tab.
Create all the necessary segments by typing their name in the “New segment” text field and clicking “Update Configuration”. Please note that you can only create up to 10 segments.
Importing voters
Now, when importing voters, you are able to map information into the two new segments. To do so, you import voters as you normally would, and when mapping the voter data, two new fields appear.
After importing the voter data, the voter segments information will appear under each voter.
Results & statistics
After the election is finished, you can see the results segmented. Make sure to generate the results of the voting round first.
Go to the “Statistics frontend”, which you access through the “Frontend” menu in the bottom-left corner.
Within the “Statistics” overview, you can now see the voting results divided by the segments
In the downloaded results file, you can see a breakdown of all the voters and their votes, as shown below:
Voter Anonymity - Best Practices
To ensure voter anonymity while still enabling meaningful insights, it is important to limit the number of segments to the absolute minimum necessary and to avoid including segments that require personal & identifiable data. When combining multiple segments, it is also important to keep in mind that together they should not be able to identify the voters.
For example, if a segment is an age group (like 18-20 years old) and then there are only a few voters that fall within that group, it is too easy to identify them. The same happens when combining multiple categories, it will ultimately make it easier to identify who voted for what. So keep segments to a minimum and in big groupings so an individual cannot be identified.
