Embedded & Kiosk Modes

Embedded & Kiosk Modes

This guide is for system admins and users configuring voting frontends in Embedded or Kiosk mode. As such, the guide provides an overview of the two different modes.

  • Read more about the Embedded and Kiosk Voting features here.

Before starting

  • Embedded & Kiosk voting modes are a feature flag; therefore, confirm that it has been enabled at the organisation level.

  • If this is not the case, please reach out to the Project Manager responsible.

Embedded Voting

The Embedded Voting mode is used when needing to embed a ballot from Electa into another window or system (or even specific hardware). Below are two examples of the embedded mode.

  1. The first example shows a voting round embedded into Live Conference voting mode:

  1. The next example is accessed by using the Scheduled voting frontend URL and adding a “/e/” just before the organisation slug and removing the “/en” at the end of the URL: https://election-client.demo.assemblyvoting.net/e/orgname/electionref

With this mode, other features are available, such as sending the tracking code by SMS – enable this under Configuration.

2. Kiosk Voting

The Kiosk Voting mode is used generally for physical elections that require an external device, such as tablets. Often, this mode is paired with the Logins system, specifically due to the possibility of device enrollment – read more on that here.

To access this mode, start by opening the Scheduled voting frontend. In the URL of this frontend, add a “/k/” just before the organisation slug and remove the “/en” at the end of the URL: https://election-client.demo.assemblyvoting.net/k/orgname/electionref

Additionally, this mode has an extra feature that disables the “Sign out” feature – read more here.
