How to create a voting round

It is time to create a voting round so the election can start. A voting round is an election, and creating at least one is necessary for voters to be able to cast ballots. There can be several voting rounds within one election event.

  1. Go to the “Voting rounds” tab in the menu to the left.

  2. Start by clicking on the “+ New” button to create a new voting round. You now must fill out the title and name of the voting round and choose its status.

  1. Under “Title,” write “Example voting round.”

  2. Set the Status to “Open.” This will ensure the voting round is open for voting once you start the test.

  3. The “Identifiable” item should be left disabled/toggled off(grey) to make sure that the voters and their votes are anonymous. When “Identifiable” is enabled/toggled on (blue), you as a system user will be able to see who voted what in the output file.

  4. Toggle “Demo” on. This will allow the demo voter to vote on this election to test the setup.

  5. Leave “Recasting” enabled/toggled on. This means the voters are able to vote as many times as they wish, with only the last vote being that one that counts. With “Recasting” toggled off/disabled, your voter can only vote once and cannot access the ballot once they have finished voting.

  6. Select the “Example Vote” contest under “Available.” It will move over to “Selected.”

The setup should look like the following image:

  1. Finally, click “Create voting round.”

The voting round should now be visible in the menu under “Currently Active.”
