Now you are ready to start your Candidacy event. The four stages of a Candidacy event are as follows:

The first stage/phase of a Candidacy event is that in which the end-users can access the candidacy site and register as candidates.

Refer to the previous sections on Signing up to Candidacy & Registering as a candidate for detailed guidance about these processes.

Either while or after the registration phase ends, you will need to manually review and approve the candidates' profiles.

Refer to the previous section on Approving candidates in the backend for detailed guidance.

Once you are done approving and reviewing the candidates' profiles, you need to publish them. Up until now, none of the approved candidates' profiles should be publicly visible to others.

  • If you have previously set “Publishing phase” as “Disabled” in the “Configuration” tab, now is the time to go back and change it to “Enabled.” Upon doing this, all approved candidates will then be visible and a new page will appear in the Candidacy site showcasing all candidates sorted by their respective groups.

  • However, if the “Publishing phase” is scheduled to begin at a specific time, you will need to review and approve all candidates' profiles before that time. Nevertheless, only approved profiles will be published once the “Publishing phase” commences.

Exporting Candidacy data may be useful when you need to conduct an election using your registered candidates. You may download candidate data as a .json file, which can then be imported as a contest in Electa. You can read more on how to do this in the guide: Import a contest.

To export data from your Candidacy event, you will need to have at least one approved candidate in the system. Read more on how to register as a candidate and how to approve candidates in the section How to test the Candidacy setup .

Once all candidates have registered themselves and have been approved in the backend, go to the “Summary” tab and click the Screenshot 2024-07-26 at 15.33.06.png button, which you can find in the bottom menu bar.

This will produce a .json file containing information provided by all approved candidates when registering as candidates. The information provided will depend on the setup of the form candidates fill out. Read more on how to setup a form here.
