How to configure a scheduled election
To edit the configuration of the election, click on “Configuration” in the menu on the left side of the election page. Upon clicking, a new menu will appear with a list of configurations. Note that not all of these configurations may be necessary to set up for your election.
This guide will take you through configuration of the following:
Language, title, and description
Start by setting up the language, title, and description of the election.
Under the “Main” section, you can see the language and title configurations which you already set up when you created the election. It is from here that you can edit any of them at a later point.
Now, you should add a description for the election event.
Click on “Description.”
Type in the text: “Information about the election.”
Click “Update configuration” to save the changes.
You will later see the description appear on the frontend of the election when you preview it.
Status
Next, you will set a status for the election.
Click on “Status”.
For testing purposes, leave the election status as “Open,” for now, as we need to ensure everything is set up correctly before we change the status of the election.
This is where you will set the status of the election. An election can have three statuses: “Open,” “Closed,” and “Scheduled.”
Election codes
Scroll down to the “Election Codes” section in the menu. Here, you can choose the number of election codes your election will use. You can also choose how you would like to label each code on the election front page so that voters know where to type which credential.
Under “Amount of election codes,” set the number of election codes to “2.”
Click on “Update configuration” to save the changes.
Click on “Election code 1 label” and enter the text “Username”
This election code will be auto generated by the election system when importing the voters at a later point and is unique for each voter.
Click on “Update configuration” to save the changes.
Now, click on “Election code 2 label” and enter the text “Password.”
This election code will be provided by you and uploaded to the system at a later point.
Click on “Update configuration” to save the changes.
Themes
Scroll down to the “Theme” section, where you can choose a color and upload a logo to personalize the election and match your organization’s brand.
Click on “Color” and choose your desired color (you can choose a color by either clicking on it or by typing the color code in hex format, e.g. #244FA5).
Click on “Update configuration” to save the changes.
Click on “Logo,” choose the logo file (use a .png or a .jpg file) and save the changes by clicking “Update Configuration.” For this guide, you can use the following image:
.
Click on “Login background,” select the option “Background from gallery” from the dropdown menu, and choose an image from the available selection.
Following theme selection, you should review your recent changes to the configurations.
Click on the “Frontend” button in the lower left corner under the sections. A menu will appear.
Click on “Standalone voting client” to open up the election front page. This is the page the voter will land on when they get access to the election system. If you have followed the above instructions, the page should look like this:
