Candidates
Candidates are end-users who have signed up to be approved for running in an election. Candidates fill out their candidate presentation, which becomes visible to other end-users when they are approved and the publishing phase is active.
There are two ways to create a candidate: the first is to register as a candidate in the frontend of the Candidacy site, and the second one is for a backend user or admin to create a candidate. Go to End-user flow: Create and edit a candidacy & Create a candidate for the how-to guides on creating and registering as a candidate.
To create or register a candidate, you need to have a candidate form. Read more on how to create a form here.
When you click on the “Candidates” tab on the left-hand side menu, you are met with the candidate overview page. In this page, you can create a new candidate manually, approve candidates, as well as edit, delete, and search for candidates.
You can find the following fields in this page:
Search bar: The search bar at the top allows you to search for candidates by their name, approval status, group, and recommendation count (if “Recommendations” are enabled under “Configurations”).
Name: Search for a candidate by their name.
Status: Search for a candidate by their approval status – see which status a candidate can have below under “Status“.
Groups: Search for a candidate by the group they belong to or the absence of it (ie. “Missing“).
Recommendation count: Search for a candidate based on their minimum and/or maximum amount of recommendations given.
Id: This is a unique ID number that the system creates for every identity. This information is static and cannot be changed or removed.
Status: Shows the status of the candidate’s profile. A candidate’s profile can have four statuses:
“Approved”: When a candidate’s profile is approved.
“Altered after approval“: When a candidate’s profile was modified after it was approved.
“Review requested“: When a candidate has requested approval of their profile, and thus is ready for review by an admin.
“Missing recommendations”: When a candidate’s profile is missing the minimum required recommendations.
“In preparation“: A candidate’s profile could be “in preparation“ for three reasons:
The candidate has not requested approval of their profile and thus the profile is still under “preparation”.
The candidate’s profile has been rejected.
The candidate’s profile has reached the required minimum recommendations.
“Latest review rejected“: When a candidate’s approval request of their profile was rejected.
Position: Shows the position in which the candidate will show up in the frontend.
Recommendation count: Shows the number of recommendations that the candidate’s profile has received.
This field will only appear if “Recommendations” have been enabled in the configurations – read more here.
Note: In this field, you can see any additional information about the candidate, that has been provided inside the candidate profile in the backend. Notes are only visible to administrators and users.
If a candidate profile has a note, it will appear as
. To see the note in more detail, simply hover over the note symbol, and the text will appear above it.
Additional fields will be shown depending on which fields the candidate form has been set up with. All fields from the candidate form will then appear in this overview.
Created at: Shows the time and date of creation of the candidate profile.
Updated at: Shows the latest time and date when the candidate profile was modified.'
If you click on the blue and underlined fields, the identity data will be displayed in ascending (shown with an arrow pointing up) or descending (shown with an arrow pointing down) order according to that column. Note that you can only order the data by one field at a time.
Once a candidate profile has been created, it will appear on the “Candidates“ page. By clicking on the button of the corresponding candidate, you will be able to see all the information displayed in their profile in the backend, as well as any recommendations they may have received. You can also see any requests made by the end-user.
Here, you can approve/disapprove, edit, and/or delete the candidate’s profile, as well as send an email to the candidate.
